Lynne Grace - Capturing the South April May 2019

Lynne is an artist living in Riverton Southland with approximately four years of regular painting behind her. Though tutored by a local Otautau oil colour landscape artist, her water colour, other art mediums and subjects have been largely self-taught.

Lynne comes from a farming background so finds that inpires her towards nature themes in her pieces.

She works full time in Invercargill but tries to make time each week to develop art skills and explore creative ideas.

Lynne is part of the Art group Artists of Southland which she has found to have been a real benefit, in sharing techniques, understanding composure and developing her art scope.

 Caley Hall - Southern Scenes Feb/March 2019

Caley Hall specializes in oil painting, and is well known for his landscapes and expressionist abstracts.   A largely self-taught artist, he has learned techniques and takes inspiration from other New Zealand artists, including renowned Queenstown-based painter Tim Wilson and Central Otago-based painter Peter Beadle.

Caley was also in the January / February 2016 edition of The New Zealand Artist for his distinctive landscape style.   In November 2016, it was announced that he would be the first artist in residence on a new ship dedicated to international wildlife and marine conservation.

He has been featured in the New Zealand media numerous times, particularly for the generous support he has given to schools in the region both raising funds and introducing the pupils to landscape art.    In addition to this Caley has supported various Charities such as Earthrace 2, Loss & Grief Centre, Barking Mad Studio to name a few.

In 2018 Caley was recognised with a Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year certificate for making a difference in the community through charity work.

Caley will be here as Artist in Residence during Mandeville Flying & Steam Festival 23/24 February           and is happy to give tips or answer any questions you may have.  The Croydon Aviation Heritage Trust is   also supported by Caley through sales of his Landscape Print of Mitre Peak – see the Gift Shop for this.

My Southland Story - Ceri Macleod Exhibition

29th September to

18th November 2018

FREE ENTRY
Even though we had seen a lot of the world, we are still completely blown away by the natural beauty that surrounds us here in Southland. Those big skies, big mountains, big rivers and seas are breath taking, with awe-inspiring views around each corner.

My favourite views are of the Hokonui hills. I have tried to capture the many colours, shapes and light through drawings and paintings, but you really can’t beat getting out there and exploring them yourself.

This is my Southland story. I hope you can make it yours too.
